fri night i ventured to a neighborhood i rarely go to, but after going to north end grill, that might have to change.
the restaurant has recently opened in battery park and has attracted lots of attention, as the newest restaurant of the union square hospitality, and the return of chef floyd cardoz, formerly of tabla and winner of season 3 of bravo’s top chef masters.
i would describe the restaurant design as modern rustic. it is very classy, yet still has a casual vibe. the service is impeccable, and what you would expect from any danny meyer restaurant.
as seen below, one of the features i really appreciated was the open kitchen, which can be seen as soon as you enter the restaurant. the other plus is counter seating, where anyone can eat without a reservation.
and now for the food…by the end of the night we literally tasted about half of the menu, probably my favorite part of my meal were my first and last bite. the first, cod throats meuniere is something i had never tried before, and if i haven’t heard of something the more likely i’ll order it! the second, butterscotch pot de creme, and shame on you if you leave here without trying it! both are photographed below.
