this film is nominated for 2011 best short film, animated. i was blown away when i watched it last night at a film screening at nitehawk cinema. and now you can watch it here, yay youtube!

the film has a handmade feel to it, which i absolutely love! i read this was achieved with a hybrid animation style, using stop motion with miniatures, computer animation and traditional hand-drawn techniques.

the film also touches on something very relevant, as the co-director william joyce said, in the la times, “we’re doing a short film that celebrates books and speaks to their preciousness and … that they’re endangered,”
